iSymphonic v1.7.8 Release Notes
This update of iSymphonic Orchestra fixes several issues concerning download and management of in-app purchase sounds, which are described below. Additionally this update also fixes some minor user interface issues.
iSymphonic Orchestra v1.7.8 was released on the App Store on February 11th 2016.
Sound Sets Screen
There is now an "Optional Sound Sets" overview screen, showing all available sound sets and their current installation/download status. This screen is available on iPad by a new icon on top of the app's main screen. On iPhone and iPod touch you can access this new screen by entering the app's "Settings" screen, then scroll down to section "App Store" and tap on "Optional Sound Sets".
Uninstall Sound Sets
As you might have noticed, the iSymphonic app already became quite a large orchestra sound library. Not only that there is a massive amount of sounds, they also take a load of disk space of several GB when all sounds are being installed at the same time. This can be a problem sometimes. That's why there is now an "Uninstall" button appearing for each sound set on the new sound sets screen, which allows you to delete individual sound sets from your device. Of course you can restore those uninstalled sound sets later on at any time.
Resuming Downloads
Paused or aborted downloads of sound sets now resume at their previous download progress position instead of restarting the download from the beginning. So you can now pause an active download at any time by tapping on its progress bar for example, i.e. because you currently might need the entire Internet bandwidth for viewing some video, then once you are done, just tap on the progress bar again to resume the download right where it was stopped.
Robust Connection Handling
Download issues regarding unstable (i.e. cellular) Internet connections had been addressed. The app now automatically handles resuming interrupted downloads without any user intervention required. Previously especially cell phone based Internet connection caused sound set downloads to abort frequently, so downloading all sound sets sometimes had been a frustrating process for users of such and other unreliable Internet connections. Now there is no need anymore to sit and wait in front of your iPad or iPhone. No more fearing that your download may abort at any time.
Fixed potential data corruption
This update also fixes possible data corruption of downloaded sound sets
which previously could happen under certain circumstances.
Low Disk Space Issues
Issues caused by low disk (SSD) space were resolved: You are now informed right at the beginning of the download in case there is not enough disk space available to download the respective sound set. Previously the download aborted somewhere during the download process in such cases, without a clear indication that low disk space could be the cause. Now once the download started without such an error message, it is guaranteed that the download will complete without causing a disk space related abort of the download process.
Unintentional User Aborts
Prevention of unintentional or accidental user abort of downloads was added: you are now always asked whether you really want to abort the respective active download. Previously users sometimes accidently tapped on the semi-translucent orchestra players while their download was active, which caused the active download to abort upon user request. This was irritating and a common source for error for many users.
Improved Download Progress Bar
An additional, animated green arrow symbolizes now incoming data packets from the Internet in real-time, which now makes it easy to recognize whether a download is actually still active or whether there are sometimes interruptions concerning the incoming download data stream.
Improved Status Text
The status text of active downloads had been improved. It was often not clear what the actual status of a download was, or what the cause of a download abort was.
Please note that there is always just one download active (status "Downloading ...") at a time. All other requested downloads remain in state "Queued ..." and will automatically turn active one by one, there is no user interaction required to turn a queued download into active state.
Unintentional Parallel Downloads
This update fixes unintentional launch of parallel downloads which was possible under certain circumstances, that is several download streams of different sound sets coming in at the same time, which previously caused the overall download progress to be more error prone.
